June 2

June 2
We went to the Lodge to get our coffee and watched Old Faithful one last time before heading out for Eagle RV Park in Thermopolis WY. On the road by 7:30 and beautiful sunny day but a cold 38°. We drove along the Grand Loop next to Yellowstone Lake when we finally saw our first grizzly bear.

A little later we saw caribou and then down further we saw a mother grizzly and baby. I was talking to some local people and they said they frequent this area all the time. People line up with their cameras to take pictures. They were to far away for me to get a good picture.
Driving along East Entrance Road there are small waterfalls coming down the sides of the mountains all along the route. Passed a sulfur pool, boy they really smell.

The first week of June seems to be the best time to visit Yellowstone. The whole area is alive with the beginning of spring. The rivers are full and snow is melting making everything beautiful and it’s not crowded yet. We left the park by 9:30.

Driving North Fork Highway was beautiful and the mountains and Shoshone River was awesome. We passed the Buffalo Bill Dam.
Arrived at Eagle RV Park and checked into our site. This is a really cute little campground and very clean. It has little cabins and some RV sites. Restrooms are very clean and nice laundry.
We took a ride into downtown Thermopolis and stopped at Hot Springs Park to walk along the boardwalk that surrounded the thermal sulfur springs and crossed a suspension bridge over the Big Horn River. We drove a road up along the park’s Monument Hill to view a herd of bison. It was such a beautiful, peaceful ride above all the activity below.
