We got up and headed down to breakfast. We had cereal, grits, waffles, apples but no coffee?? About 8:00 we walked over to CVS then back to hotel to check out. We got on the Louisiana Bayou Byway thinking it was a scenic route but went through mostly industrial areas or neighborhoods set so low we couldn’t see anything. We decided to get off and head to Hanks Creek Campground in Huntington, TX. We did cross the Mississippi River.
This is not a fun drive. Flat, boring and bad roads heading out of Louisiana. About 4 hours into the drive Jon texted that he had to work late and did we want to come there for the night and set up in his yard. So we cancelled our camping reservations and headed to Jon and Leigh’s house. It added another 2 hours to our drive but we really wanted to see them. About 8 1/2 hour drive and we arrived at the Vashey’s. Denise was able to join us also. That was such a nice surprise ❤️ They had a delicious dinner for us and we’re thoroughly entertained by the four boys! We set up the pop up in their driveway, took a walk around the neighborhood, hung out and talked then off to bed. What a wonderful time we had.
In the morning we had breakfast then Leigh went off to school with the three oldest while Jon stayed home with little Lincoln because he was sick. We went to pick some stuff up at Walmart then we headed out! So glad we did this stop.
Nice!
