May 8

We were up and out by 7:30 to head over to Global Wildlife in Folson LA to go on a wildlife safari. It’s another beautiful day, 85° and sunny. We entered Louisiana around 11:00am and arrived at Global Wildlife at noon. We bought our tickets and a bucket of animal food and headed out on the tractor pulled open cars for the drive through the 900 acres. This is home to over 4,000 exotic, endangered & threatened animals from all over the world. The whole trip so far was worth being able to feed and pat the giraffes. I can’t say enough about how wonderful this tour was and how incredibly awesome the animals are treated. This is a nonprofit park which is nice.

Now driving over to Alder Hotel in New Orleans, we crossed the Pontchartrain Bridge. 23.83 miles long. New Orleans is 1-2 feet below sea level.

We arrived around 4pm, checked in and went to our room. The hotel is near the hospital, not much to appreciate outside but our room was amazing. Sitting area, king size bed and a real nice bathroom. Very clean and just what we needed! I went to do our laundry then we changed and took an Uber to Bourbon Street, Music Legends Park. Sat outside, listened to a jazz band and I ordered a fish po’boy (which was the best fish I ever had) and a Bayou Mojito . Yum! We walked around the area which was a mix of interesting and kind of sad. We had an amazing time! Took an Uber back to our hotel to sleep in our king size bed 😍

  1. If you like po'boys, try some fried catfish. Some of the best catfish anywhere, in that part of the country. Add a little of whatever the house hot sauce is. You'll be hooked.

  2. Oh, and southern Collard Greens on the side. Embrace the local food. It alone is quite worth the trip!

  3. The Safari Park sounds wonderful... good to see animals have a nice habitat where they feel comfortable. Your king size bed seems comfortable as well!
